The Latest AI Developments
Anthropic shipped their biggest upgrade yet. Opus 4.6 plans more carefully, catches its own mistakes, and gets a 1M token context window in beta. Even more interesting is that Claude Code agent teams let you spin up multiple agents that coordinate and work in parallel on your codebase. They also shipped Claude in PowerPoint, upgraded Claude in Excel, and added adaptive thinking to the API.
Google announced the number during its latest post-earnings call: 750M MAUs for the Gemini app, up from 650M last quarter. For context, ChatGPT reported 300M weekly actives in December. Different metrics, but the scale war is real. Reuters called it “laggard to leader.”
OpenAI’s answer to Opus 4.6 came within minutes. GPT-5.3-Codex combines the coding power of 5.2-Codex with the reasoning of GPT-5.2, and it’s 25% faster. The model even helped build itself. OpenAI says it goes from “an agent that can write and review code” to one that can do nearly anything devs do on a computer.

Interesting AI
Casio’s Moflin looks like a plush toy. It’s actually an emotional AI that learns who you are.
It has 4 million possible emotional states. Day 1 it’s shy. Day 50 it might be cheerful, energetic, or affectionate. It also has touch sensors, accelerometer, gyro, mic, speaker. And it sleeps in a little bed that doubles as a charger. All the processing happens locally with nothing uploaded to the cloud.
Casio is positioning it as a calming companion for stress and loneliness. jif that lands or not, the hardware is real and the emotional AI layer is more sophisticated than most robot pets on the market.

Beyond the Feed
Anthropic went public with a big promise: no ads in Claude, ever. Their argument is that AI conversations are too personal and too open-ended for sponsored content. It’s a direct shot at competitors exploring ad-supported models.
